PORTFOLIO
I received my undergraduate degree in Paleontology at Appalachian State University and I am currently focusing on my master’s degree in Museum Studies – Exhibition and Visitor Experience at The George Washington University.
As an Museum and Outreach Intern and Undergraduate Research Assistant (URA), I was able to gain experience in both Paleontology and exhibit design/creation. My senior thesis focused on both the world of Paleontology and museum exhibits, which I titled “Analyzing Reconstructions of the Giant Fossil Shark Otodus megalodon, and Proposing a New Process Behind “megalodon” Exhibit Design”.
I also gained field experience being part of a two-week triassic camping trip and a 6 week geology summer field class. During the triassic trip, I prospected at dig sites and visited behind-the-scenes areas at science museums across the country. For the geology field class, I spent 6 weeks in Italy doing geological field mapping, data collecting, field notes, geological unit identification in the Apennine Mountains of Northern Italy, and immersing in the culture.
My hope is to have a career that allows me to merge science and design to create eye opening museum experiences. To do this, I will use my past experiences along with my continued goal to truly experience life, so I may use that to fuel my work and make it unique.
